St. Louis, MO (October 7, 2022) – A truck accident took place in St. Louis that left one woman with moderate injuries. At around 8:45 a.m., on October 5, the Missouri State Highway Patrol received a notification that a collision between multiple vehicles occurred on Interstate 55.
According to local news sources, a 2015 Kia Sportage and a 2021 Peterbilt 389 were both stopped for traffic on the northbound side of Interstate 55 just south of Butler Hill Road. For unknown reasons, the driver of a 2016 Kia Optima was following too closely. As a result, the vehicle slid into the rear of the Kia. The impact of the crash caused the Kia to move forward and collide with the Peterbilt tractor-trailer. Both Kias suffered significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the Sportage, 35-year-old Nicole Solcovic of Barnhart, Missouri, suffered moderate injuries in the crash. She was transported by Mehlville Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital South, where she underwent emergency treatment.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
Our thoughts are with Nicole Solcovic as we hope for her full recovery.
Car Accidents in Missouri
Each day, car accidents are reported across the state of Missouri that result in injuries for those involved. Unfortunately, many people are left with severe injuries due to drivers who engage in acts of negligence.
Distracted driving is any activity that takes a driver’s attention away from the road. This can include talking or texting on a cell phone, eating, drinking, talking to passengers, or even daydreaming.
Drunk driving is another major cause of car accidents. Drunk drivers often have a hard time staying in their lane, following the speed limit, and making proper turns.
Speeding is also a major contributing factor to car accidents. When drivers fail to maintain a safe speed for their vehicles, they increase the risk of losing control. This is particularly true in inclement weather and in congested areas.
