Washington, MO (October 11, 2022) – Two people were left injured as a result of a crash that took place in Washington County. On October 7, emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash on Missouri State Route 21.
At around 5:45 p.m., a collision between a 2021 Buick enclave and a 2021 Ford Ecosport took place on the northbound side of Missouri State Route 21 just 600 feet north of Tindall Road. The impact of the crash caused the Ford to turn counterclockwise and strike a 2000 Chevrolet 1800 pickup truck. All three vehicles were left with extensive damage as a result of the collision.
EMS responded to the scene and rendered aid to 51-year-old William Hovis of Cadet, Missouri, and 77-year-old Bernard Coleman of Kennett, Missouri. Hovis was then transported to Washington County Memorial Hospital. Coleman was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
Our thoughts are with William Hovis and Bernard Coleman as we hope for their full recovery.
Car Accidents in Missouri
In Missouri, we see thousands of people harmed every single month as a result of vehicle collisions. There are many cases where innocent people suffer injuries due to negligent motorists. Unfortunately, suffering injuries as a result of the vehicle collision will not only impact your life physically and emotionally, but financially as well. If you’ve been hurt in a car accident, you may be able to file a personal injury case against the responsible party.
Under Missouri’s comparative fault law, if you are partially at fault for an accident, you can still recover damages, but your recovery will be reduced by your percentage of fault. For example, if you are found to be 20% at fault for an accident that caused $10,000 in damages, you would be able to recover $8,000 from the other driver.
In a pure comparative fault state like Missouri, even if you are found to be 99% at fault for an accident, you can still recover damages from the defendant, although your award would be only 1% of the total damages. Having a strong legal team by your side can help to ensure you are able to recover the money you need and deserve. A car accident lawyer in Washington will be able to build a strong case against the defendant and fight to get you compensation for your damages.
