Joplin, MO (September 24, 2022) – Authorities responded to the scene of a crash in Newton County that resulted in injuries. At around 5:25 p.m., on September 22, the Missouri State Highway Patrol received a request for assistance on-site at a crash on Coyote Drive.

Preliminary reports show that a 2011 Chevrolet traverse failed to yield the right-of-way to a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am. As a result, the two vehicles collided on Coyote Drive just four miles south of Joplin, Missouri. Both vehicles were significantly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

A 74-year-old man involved in the crash, identified as John Larsen from Seneca, Missouri, was injured. Larsen was transported to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, for further care.

The crash remains under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol at this time.
