Boonville, MO - Scott Ryan Killed by DUI on Hwy 5
Boonville, MO (December 22, 2020) - A man was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on suspicion of drunk driving following a fatal collision along Highway 5.
Police reports state that 46-year-old Richard Nichols, 46, a resident of Boonville, was driving northbound on Highway 5 at about 9:00 p.m. when he veered into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided head-first with another vehicle near Smith Street.
The driver of the other car, 29-year-old Scott Ryan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nichols was transported via ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia with moderate injuries.
Nichols was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated resulting in the death of another, and careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident.
