Independence, MO - Eric Vickers Killed in Crash on Hwy 24
Independence, MO (December 7, 2020) - Officers from the Independence Police Department are trying to determine the circumstances that caused a vehicle to crash into a railway bridge on Saturday, December 5th.
Incident reports show that the accident took place at about 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of Arlington Street and U.S. Highway 24 in the city of Independence when the vehicle left the paved portion of the roadway and struck the bridge.
Both passenger and driver were transported via ambulance to an area hospital.
On Monday, according to local law enforcement, the driver, who has since been identified as 21-year-old Eric Vickers, a resident of Blue Springs, passed away from his injuries and the other vehicle occupant, having sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was released.
