Affton, MO - Phyllis Powers Killed Outside Affton Community Center
Affton, MO (November 03, 2020) - An elderly woman trying to cross a local street to cast her vote in the 2020 presidential election was struck by a car and killed on Tuesday, November 3rd., St. Louis County police said.
According to local law enforcement, at about 6:00 a.m., 87-year-old Phyllis Powers was walking to her local polling place at the Affton Community Center when she was hit by a car. Emergency medics attempted life-saving measures as she was transported to a local medical facility. She was pronounced dead a short while later.
The driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old, remained at the crash site and has cooperated with the investigation.
