Lone Jack, MO (October 11, 2020) – A 9-year-old was killed and two more children sustained injuries during a car accident that took place at about 12:10 a.m.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Highway 50 near the intersection for Lover’s Lane when the driver of a 2010 Dodge neglected to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic and pulled directly into the path of a 2004 Ford.
The Ford collided with the driver’s side of the Dodge. The force of the impact caused a 9-year-old from Leavenworth, KS to be thrown from the vehicle.
First responders pronounced the 9-year-old dead on the scene. Another occupant of the Dodge, a 12-year-old, suffered moderate injuries. The driver, a 31-year-old male, also sustained moderate injuries.
A 9-year-old boy from Wichita, KS who had been a passenger in the Ford endured minor injuries. The 28-year-old driver was unharmed during the incident.
According to a police incident report, the 9-year-old who was killed was the only occupant of either vehicle who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
