Sikeston, MO - Kainan L. Deprow and Charles A. Jones Killed, Six Injured in Crash at S. Main St
Sikeston, MO (April 06, 2021) - Two people died and six more sustained serious injuries during a head-on collision on Tuesday, April 6th at about 5:30 p.m. in the 700 block of South Main Street at the Virginia Street intersection.
According to an official from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, the accident involved a passenger car and a minivan. A total of eight people occupied the two vehicles, many of whom required extrication after the accident.
36-year-old Leslie A. Spears, a resident of Sikeston, was driving a Pontiac G6 when it veered across the center line and struck the minivan head-on.
27-year-old Kainan L. Deprow, a resident of Sikeston and a passenger in Spears’ car, was transported to an area hospital. He died a short while later.
Spears and a one-year-old passenger were airlifted to St. Louis hospitals in serious condition.
53-year-old Charles A. Jones, a resident of Mounds, IL, and a passenger in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ruby L. Jones, the minivan’s driver, also from Mounds along with three other passengers, 8, 10, and 11-years-old, also sustained serious injuries during the accident.
All three children were airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis. Jones was transported to a hospital in Cape Girardeau.
